“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds” (Psalm 77:11-12, ESV).
Psalm 77 finds the believer in a place of trouble and doubt. He calls upon the Lord earnestly (vv.1-3), in darkness and yearning for better days (vv.4-6); but God seems to have rejected him (vv.7-9). The turning point comes in verse 10, when he focuses on God’s faithfulness. The Lord’s mighty saving work in the past undergirds the believer’s hopes for the future.
Fix your eyes on God’s faithfulness. Remember God’s mercy and gracious provision in times past, when you face a difficult present and uncertain future. The Lord is merciful and mighty, able to save in any and every situation. He who has reached down to you with the offer of life will not leave you in times of hardship. Hold on to the redeeming faithfulness of God.
